Steel Magnolias
Date: 4 - 24 - 2009
Event Time: 0:00 AM - 0:00 AM (event web site)
Admission: $13-16
Attendance: 400
With a group of gossipy southern ladies in a small-town beauty parlor, Steel Magnolias is alternately hilarious and touching and, in the end, deeply revealing of the strength and purposefulness which underlies the antic banter of its characters. A story of friendship, Steel Magnolias serves up a slice of life in Louisiana that`s as warm and comforting as sweet potato pie. In the haven of Truvy`s beauty salon, six very different women come together to share their secrets and bare their souls, throwing in a little neighborly gossip for good measure. Truvy`s beauty salon is where all the ladies who are anybody come to have their hair done. Helped by her eager new assistant, Annelle (who is not sure whether or not she is married), the outspoken, wise-cracking Truvy dispenses shampoos and free advice to the town`s rich curmudgeon, Ouiser, (”I`m not crazy, I`ve just been in a bad mood for forty years”); an eccentric millionaire, Miss Clairee; and the local social leader, M`Lynn, whose daughter, Shelby (the prettiest girl in town), is about to marry a “good ole boy.” The McKinney Repertory Theatre production features Carissa Powell, Jean Roberts, Jean Trout, Jana Walters, Tammy Williams and Jaime Wilson. Steel Magnolias will run April 24 - 25, and May 1-3, 2009 at MPAC. Performances are at 8:00 p.m. with a Sunday matinee at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are available at MPAC, or call 214-544-4630 or visit www.mckinneyperformingartscenter.org. PF Chang’s Allen

My wife and I meet with friends for lunch at PF Chang’s in Allen. Being extremely health conscious I definitely appreciated the nutritional information provided on their site. I ordered a lunch bowl of Buddha’s Feast which had only 1 gram of saturated fat. Eating out always concerns me as I do not know how it is cooked but it definitely made me feel a little better knowing what I was eating.
My wife order a Beef with Brocolli lunch bowl which she stated was incredible.
We both had lunch bowls and a drink for approximately $26.00

Southbound U.S. 75 Exit Ramp to U.S. 380 Scheduled for Closure
COLLIN COUNTY - The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will close the southbound U.S. 75 exit ramp to U.S. 380, in McKinney, beginning Monday, April 6. The closure is expected to last until spring 2010 and is necessary to ensure the safety of the traveling public, as well as contractor crews and TxDOT inspectors during the reconstruction of the southbound U.S. 75 mainlanes and frontage road.
The closure is part of a traffic control plan designed to keep traffic moving while the $25.6 million U.S. 75/U.S. 380 intersection improvement project is completed.
TxDOT asks motorists to drive carefully through the work zone, and has placed electronic message boards along southbound U.S. 75 to notify the public of the scheduled closure. Signs will be in place to direct all traffic exiting southbound U.S. 75 to U.S. 380 to use the Wilmeth Road exit for the duration of the closure.
The project is scheduled for completion by fall 2010. TxDOT and Texas Sterling Construction Co. would like to apologize in advance for any inconvenience, and thank area drivers, local businesses, the City of McKinney and Collin County for their continued patience and cooperation as crews work diligently to complete this vital project as soon and as safely as possible.
